The D.A.SH Uovo Cut is a plug-in glass base in a teardrop shape with two cut rings running around it. It is about 26 to 27 cm tall, up to 19 cm wide and weighs about 1.9 kg. It is made in Spain.
Two cut rings at neck and belly
One ring of overlapping cuts sits in the neck area, a second one above the belly. This distinguishes the Uovo Cut from the Uovo. Depending on the version, the Uovo Cut is available in clear, black or grey glass.
Regular glass, mouth-blown or pressed
The base is made of regular glass, not crystal glass, and is therefore lighter than heavy crystal bases. Depending on the batch it is mouth-blown or pressed. On pressed bases fine seams may be visible, and small air inclusions are possible. The neck opening measures 4.5 cm inside and 7 cm outside.
Plug-in base with silicone seal
The Uovo Cut has no screw thread. The stem sits in the neck of the base with a silicone seal, so the base fits hookahs with a plug-in system. Check the length of your downstem including diffuser beforehand; it should not touch the glass bottom.
How to use the Uovo Cut
- Insert the downstem with diffuser as a test and check that it does not touch the bottom.
- Fill in water until the downstem sits about 2 to 3 cm deep in the water.
- Push the stem with the seal firmly into the neck of the base.
- Stand the hookah upright, connect the hose and take your time starting the session.
Care
Rinse the base by hand with lukewarm water after the session, with a little mild washing-up liquid if needed. Not in the dishwasher. Avoid thermal shocks: no boiling water and no rapid change from very hot to very cold.
