Batteries and waste electrical equipment

As a customer of Hookain Onlineshop, we inform you under the EU Battery Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1542) and the German Battery Law Implementation Act (BattDG) about the disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries that we sell together with devices or on their own. Waste batteries do not belong in household waste: hand them in at a municipal collection point or at a local retailer. We take back batteries and rechargeable batteries in household quantities free of charge. Send them to us with sufficient postage – we will refund the postage costs.

Please return batteries and rechargeable batteries to:

Hookain Onlineshop GmbH
Grüner Brunnenweg 146
50827 Köln
Germany

Crossed-out wheeled bin

Batteries are marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin. If they contain hazardous substances, the chemical symbol of the substance is shown below it, for example Pb (lead), Cd (cadmium) or Hg (mercury). You can also find this information in the documents accompanying the delivery or in the manufacturer's instructions.

More information on disposal is available at www.grs-batterien.de and from the German Federal Environment Ministry at www.bundesumweltministerium.de.

Waste electrical and electronic equipment

The disposal of electrical and electronic equipment (for example e-cigarettes, electric charcoal lighters or illuminated hookahs) is governed by the German Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG). Old devices do not belong in household waste but in separate collection. Remove waste batteries from the device before handing it in, where this is possible without destroying it. You can hand in old devices free of charge at the collection points of the public waste management authorities or at the take-back points of manufacturers and retailers. Shops with at least 400 m² of sales area for electrical and electronic equipment and food shops with at least 800 m² of total sales area are obliged to take them back.

Old devices may contain personal data; you are responsible for deleting it yourself. The crossed-out wheeled bin on a device means that it must be collected separately from unsorted municipal waste at the end of its life.

If you have questions about returning batteries or old devices, you can reach us via our contact form.
