The Sweet Bowls Unika is a multi-hole bowl made of dark brown ceramic, handmade in Ukraine. It was the first Sweet Bowls model, is shaped from black clay and has a recess inside with additional grooves for the molasses.
Its own shape with grooves in the chamber
The Unika does not have a standard shape. In the chamber there is a recess and additional grooves. Part of the molasses that runs out of the tobacco while smoking collects there and bakes on during the session instead of running straight through the holes.
What is different with a multi-hole bowl
There are several holes in the base, with the tobacco lying directly above them. The grooves catch part of the molasses, but the Unika cannot hold it back completely like a phunnel. If the tobacco is too wet or packed too tightly, molasses can run into the stem. So pack loosely and not too full.
Wide rim for HMD or foil
The rim is wide and flat, an HMD sits steadily on it and the heat stays stable. Foil works just as well. The bowl suits both light and strong tobacco.
Black clay from Ukraine
Sweet Bowls is a small manufacturer from Ukraine. The Unika is shaped by hand from black clay, which absorbs hardly any moisture. Small differences in shape and colour are part of the handwork. A bowl grommet is included.
How to pack the Unika
- Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so the molasses is evenly distributed. Let very wet tobacco drain briefly.
- Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the chamber and do not press it down. The holes in the base must stay free; do not block the grooves.
- With an HMD, fill to just below the rim; with foil, a little less, so that 2 to 3 mm of space to the foil remains.
- Put on the HMD or stretch the foil tight, pierce lots of small holes and tighten again.
- Place the coals, heat up for a few minutes and control the heat via the number and position of the coals.

About 15 g, rather a little less. The exact amount depends on the cut, the moisture and how loosely you pack.
What are the grooves in the chamber for?
They catch part of the molasses. After the session, rinse them out too.
Does every bowl look the same?
Not quite. Because every bowl is made by hand, shape and shade vary slightly.
How do I clean the bowl?
Only once the bowl has cooled down completely, rinse it with lukewarm water and clear the holes and grooves. Hot ceramic does not tolerate cold shock.
