The ONMO HMD is a heat management device made of aluminium, cast in one piece and without screws. It replaces aluminium foil: the charcoals lie in the attachment and pass their heat from above to the tobacco. It is 7.5 cm in diameter at the bottom, weighs around 70 g and takes two charcoals up to 27 mm. Here the HMD is available in Silver and Black.
Bars and diamond profile
There are bars on the base. With them you can place the charcoals at a distance, in full contact or in bar contact with the tobacco and adapt the HMD to your setup. Inside, a diamond profile provides air under the charcoals, so they go out less often. The wide rim gives the charcoal support when you lay one on the edge.
Aluminium
Aluminium passes heat on quickly, so the HMD heats up fast and also cools down quickly again. That is forgiving for heat management, but the metal is softer than stainless steel. Silver and Black are the same model; only the colour differs.

How to use the ONMO HMD
- Fill tobacco loosely into the bowl until it lightly touches the bottom of the HMD or stays just below it.
- Start with two natural charcoals (26 or 27 mm) and let them glow through on the charcoal lighter. You do not preheat the HMD itself there.
- Put the charcoals in the HMD and place the HMD on the bowl.
- Let it warm up for three to five minutes before you really draw.
- If there is too much heat, remove or move a charcoal; if there is too little smoke, add one.
Care
Let the HMD cool down completely before cleaning it, and never dip it hot into cold water. Brush off dirty spots with an HMD wire brush, but with little pressure: aluminium is soft, and too much pressure can damage the surface.

How many charcoals fit in the ONMO HMD?
Two charcoals up to 27 mm. The raised rim can carry a third charcoal, which you lay on edge.
Do Silver and Black differ?
Only in colour. Design and dimensions are the same.
What is the difference to the stainless steel version?
The aluminium HMD heats and cools faster and is more forgiving. The stainless steel versions store the heat longer and need more attention in heat management.

The HMD is high-quality and delivers what it promises, sits well on the bowl and the coals burn cleanly.
The colour looks sick on a dark bowl.

Really cool thing
The Onmo was always good but in black it looks amazing and also performs really great. It's like with race cars, if you stick flames on the sides it goes faster 😂 it's the same with the Onmo, in black it looks cooler and also works better😂

The "Kaloud killer" finally in black
My first two aluminium HMDs were two Kalouds and I was, or rather still am, absolutely happy with both. However, the Kaloud costs a fair chunk of money and there used to be no alternative.
But now there's the ONMO! At least just as good a performance for half the money!
For me, as a fan of aluminium HMDs, the ONMO was an absolute stroke of luck.
Unless I exceptionally use a stainless steel HMD, the ONMO runs on almost every one of my setups and wins me over again every time.
All the nicer that it's now also available in the black variant and you no longer have to fall back on the Kaloud Niris when you want a black aluminium HMD.

Better than the Kaloud
Currently in my opinion the best HMD on the market. With the black ONMO, unfortunately the coating on the bottom eventually comes off, which personally doesn't bother me because you can't see it from the outside anyway. Also, the Kaloud has the same problem.

Go-to HMD
If you're looking for an HMD in 2023, you should definitely consider the Onmo. Top performance at a very good price. In black it's now also visually a real eye-catcher.

The best HMD for me
The OnMo is for me one of the best HMDs on the market, it convinces above all through its heat properties and its price!
Now I like it even more in this lovely black tone and silver on the inside

Best HMD
For me the ONMO is the best HMD there is. It offers the best value for money.
It's also suitable for all setup styles. Whether spaced or full-contact, everything works perfectly.
Since the ONMO came onto the market, for me it's the only one to be seen on my bowls now.
