The XKah Pro Smokebox is an electric HMD (E-HMD) from XKah. It heats the tobacco with a heating element instead of charcoal. The tobacco sits in a stainless steel pod, and the energy comes from a replaceable 13,600 mAh battery that charges via USB-C.
Electric instead of charcoal
You need no charcoal, no lighting and no topping up. You fill the tobacco loosely into a pod, put the pod into the device and the device onto your shisha with a silicone adapter. A separate head is not needed. Two adapters in S and L are included, for narrow and wide seats.
Modes and heat
The Pro has three modes. Classic runs a fixed program of about 50 minutes. In Custom mode you set temperature and duration yourself, up to 90 minutes. The Non-Tobacco mode is meant for tobacco substitutes. Before the first pull the device preheats for about 8 minutes. As a guideline, many start at around 260 °C. If it tastes harsh, go down in small steps; if the smoke is thin, go up.
Battery and charging
The battery lasts about two hours, which is one to two sessions. High temperatures use more power. A full charge via USB-C takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. You swap the battery with one click and no tools, even in the middle of a session if you have a second battery.
How to use the XKah Pro
- Charge the battery and insert it.
- Open the pod, take out the metal screen and fill in about 8 to 10 g of tobacco. Fluff it with the fork, do not press it down.
- Put the screen back until it clicks in and place the pod in the device.
- Set the device firmly onto the shisha with the matching silicone adapter.
- Choose the mode and temperature and preheat. Do not pull while it preheats.
- Then start smoking, give the tobacco a few minutes and adjust the temperature in small steps if needed.
Care and cleaning
Rinse the pods with warm water after every session. The lower part detaches at the push of a button and is dishwasher safe; you wipe the upper part. Clean the heating plate and metal screen when needed with isopropanol and a cotton swab. Clean the contact pins dry only, the electronics never get water, and everything must be dry before the next session.
