The Drip Bowl V2 5 Hole from Hookain is a multi-hole bowl made of glazed stoneware with five holes in the base. It is around 9 cm tall and holds around 22 g of Virginia tobacco or 26 g of dark leaf.
Multi-hole bowl: how the V2 draws
The tobacco sits directly above the five holes in the base of the reservoir. The heat comes from above, and the smoke is drawn through the tobacco down into the smoke column. This gives a direct, strong draw. Because nothing shields the holes, molasses from tobacco that is too wet or packed too densely can run down. Pack loosely and do not overfill the bowl.
Built for aluminium foil
Hookain recommends a setup with aluminium foil for the Drip Bowl. Stretch the foil tightly over the rim and poke the holes across the whole surface. A chimney screen on the foil keeps ash away from the holes.
Stoneware from Spain
The V2 is made in Spain from a mix of coarse-grained and finer clay, and is then glazed. The glaze determines the colour of the model and makes the reservoir smooth, so it is easier to rinse out. On the hookah, you seal the bowl with a silicone bowl grommet.
How to pack the Drip Bowl V2
- Mix the tobacco in the tin. If it is very wet, let it drain briefly.
- Sprinkle the tobacco in loosely, do not press it down. The five holes need air.
- Fill to just below the rim, the tobacco should not touch the foil.
- Stretch the aluminium foil tight, poke many fine holes across the whole surface, and place a chimney screen on top if needed.
- Place the charcoal on top, light up and control the heat via the number and position of the pieces of charcoal. If it gets harsh, push a piece of charcoal to the edge.

It cannot be prevented entirely with a multi-hole bowl. Packing loosely, not overfilling and letting wet tobacco drain helps. A molasses catcher catches the rest.
How do I clean the bowl?
Let the bowl cool down completely, then rinse it with lukewarm water and clear the holes. Hot ceramic cannot withstand thermal shock.
