The AO Carbon Molasses Catcher intercepts the molasses that runs down out of the head while you smoke, before it reaches the smoke column and the water. It has a carbon shell and an 18/8 joint, stands about 9.5 cm tall and weighs roughly 80 g. You can get it in aluminium in silver or black and in stainless steel in silver.
How the molasses catcher works
Without a molasses catcher, the thick molasses runs down the clay head and drips into the smoke column, and from there down into the base. The AO Carbon Molasses Catcher collects it on the way. Inside there are two threads and two sealing rings. Milled cut-outs in the housing let the air reach the smoke column as usual, so the draw keeps flowing through the catcher.

Fit
The molasses catcher has an 18/8 joint and belongs on smoke columns with an 18/8 connection. You do not need an extra gasket for it, because the sealing rings are already built in.
How to use it
- Check that your smoke column has an 18/8 connection.
- Place the molasses catcher with its 18/8 joint onto the smoke column.
- Smoke your session as usual.
- Let the catcher cool down after the session and unscrew it to empty it.
Care and cleaning
Unscrew the molasses catcher and rinse the parts with water. If the molasses has dried on, a little hookah cleaner or washing-up liquid helps. If you empty it after every session, the molasses stays soft and is easier to remove.
