Description

5evilla Bowl Rifle in Cream: handmade multi-hole bowl from Seville. Made of stoneware, with five holes and a standard HMD fit.

Tradi bowl with five holes

Five holes sit in the base of the reservoir, and the tobacco lies directly above them. The smoke travels through the tobacco down into the smoke column, which gives a direct, strong draw. Excess molasses can run through the holes into the smoke column in the process. So pack the 5evilla loosely, not too full and not with dripping wet tobacco.

Built for an HMD, aluminium foil works too

The rim has the standard fit for common HMDs, that is, attachments for regulating the heat. With an HMD, you regulate the heat via the ventilation and do not have to keep moving the charcoal around. If you smoke classically, you stretch aluminium foil over the bowl and pierce many small holes above the tobacco.

You can find more shapes among the 5evilla multi-hole bowls.

Handcrafted in Seville

Every 5evilla Bowl is thrown on the potter's wheel and fired in a small workshop in Seville. Colour and surface differ from model to model. Because every piece is made by hand, shape and reservoir vary slightly from bowl to bowl, and every bowl is one of a kind. The Gitano and Milky models are made from a mixture of stoneware and red clay.

How to pack the 5evilla Bowl

  1. Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin and let very wet tobacco drain a little.
  2. Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the reservoir and do not press it down, so that the holes stay clear and the air can get through.
  3. Fill to just below the rim, so that one to two millimetres of air remain below the HMD or foil.
  4. Put on the HMD or stretch and perforate the foil, place the charcoal on top and let it warm up calmly.
  5. Regulate the heat via ventilation or the number of charcoal pieces. If the smoke becomes harsh, take some heat off.

Frequently asked questions

How much tobacco fits in the 5evilla Bowl?

Around 9 to 11 g of Virginia tobacco or 15 g of dark leaf. How much it is exactly depends on the cut, the moisture and how loosely you pack.

Does an HMD fit on the 5evilla Bowl?

Yes, the rim has the standard size. Common HMDs fit, and aluminium foil works just as well.

Do the models differ?

Mainly in colour and surface. Gitano and Milky are made of stoneware with red clay. Because every bowl is thrown by hand, each piece looks slightly different.

Why does molasses run into the smoke column?

With a multi-hole bowl, the tobacco lies directly above the holes. If it is too wet or packed too densely, molasses drips down. If you pack loosely and let very moist tobacco drain beforehand, this stays minimal.

How do I clean the bowl?

Only once the bowl has cooled down completely do you rinse it out with lukewarm water and clear the holes. Hot ceramic cannot withstand cold shock, otherwise it can crack.
