The Moze Alite Phunnel is a flat Phunnel bowl made of white stoneware, a collaboration with Hookain. It is handmade in Spain, is around 9.5 cm tall, a good 8 cm wide and holds around 15 to 17 g of tobacco.
You can find matching toppers for the standard rim under HMDs and chimney toppers.
Phunnel with a flat, wide reservoir
In the middle sits a raised chimney with a single hole, and the tobacco lies in a ring all around it. The reservoir is around 6.8 cm wide and under 1 cm deep. So the tobacco lies flat and spread wide directly under the heat. The molasses stays in the bowl and does not run into the smoke column.
Easy to pack
Thanks to the flat reservoir, packing the bowl is uncomplicated: tobacco loosely into the ring, centre hole free, HMD on top. That makes the Alite an easily manageable bowl for beginners too. Because there is little depth of tobacco between the heat and the bottom, you can regulate the heat better in small steps.
Built for the HMD
The rim has the standard size, and common HMDs sit on it cleanly. It also works with aluminium foil; in that case you poke the holes only above the tobacco, not above the chimney.
White stoneware from Spain
The Alite is made by hand in Spain from compacted white clay and gets a glossy surface after firing. The bowl weighs around 230 g. Because every piece is shaped by hand, shape and shade differ slightly from one another.
How to pack the Alite Phunnel
- Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so that the molasses is evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the ring around the chimney and do not press it down. The centre hole stays free.
- Fill to just below the rim, so that the tobacco touches the HMD lightly at most.
- Put the HMD on, place the charcoal and get it going for a few minutes.
- Regulate the heat via the number and position of the charcoal. If the smoke is harsh, take some heat away; if it turns thin, carefully add some.

Does my HMD fit the Alite?
Yes, the rim has the standard size. Common HMDs sit on it.
Why should the centre hole stay free?
The smoke is drawn down through the hole in the chimney. If tobacco falls in, the draw suffers. So sprinkle the tobacco only into the ring.
How do I clean the bowl?
Only once the bowl has cooled down completely do you rinse it out with lukewarm water. Hot ceramic cannot take a cold shock.
