The 5 Hole Pumpkin Splatter from Hookain is a multi-hole bowl made of stoneware with a splatter glaze in black, grey and orange. It holds around 11 g of Virginia tobacco or 14 g of dark leaf and has a standard rim for common HMDs.

Multi-hole bowl with five holes
Five holes sit in the base of the reservoir, and the tobacco lies directly above them. With a capacity of 11 to 14 g, the bowl is rather economical. Multi-hole bowls are the classic choice for traditional bowl packing with an even draw.
What is different about a multi-hole bowl
Unlike the Phunnel, there is no chimney to hold the molasses in the reservoir. If the tobacco is too wet or packed too tightly, molasses can run through the holes into the smoke column. So you pack loosely and not too full, and you let very wet tobacco drain briefly beforehand.
HMD or aluminium foil
The rim has the standard size, and common HMDs sit cleanly on it. If you smoke classically, you stretch aluminium foil, in which case you need a little more feel for the heat.
Stoneware from Spain with an autumn look
The bowl is made in Spain from stoneware. The speckled glaze in black, grey and orange was created as an autumnal design and gives the bowl its name.
How to pack the 5 Hole
- Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so that the molasses is evenly distributed. Let very wet tobacco drain briefly.
- Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the reservoir and do not press it down. The holes in the base must stay clear.
- With an HMD, fill to just below the rim; with aluminium foil, fill a little less so that 2 to 3 mm of air remains below the foil.
- Put on the HMD or stretch aluminium foil tight, pierce many small holes and stretch it again.
- Place the charcoal on top, let it warm up for a few minutes and regulate the heat via the number and position of the charcoal pieces. Add more if needed.

How do I clean the bowl?
Only once the bowl has cooled down completely do you rinse it out with lukewarm water and clear the holes. Hot ceramic cannot withstand cold shock.
