Description

The Cosmo Bowl DEAD is a killer bowl: a slim, tall multi-hole bowl made of red clay, handmade in Russia. It is about 10.5 cm tall, about 7.5 cm wide at the top and holds about 12 to 14 g of tobacco.

Killer shape: slim, tall, small depot

The DEAD series builds on the Killer shape from Cosmo Bowl. The shaft is slim and widens slightly toward the top, and the depot is about 6 cm wide and rather shallow. The holes sit in the floor of the depot, and there is no funnel. The Killer shape is meant for dense, strong smoke, and many people pack it with Dark Leaf.

What is different about a multi-hole bowl

The tobacco lies directly over the holes. If it is too wet or packed too firmly, molasses can run into the smoke column. That is why you pack the DEAD loosely and not too full, and you let very wet tobacco drain briefly beforehand.

HMD or aluminum foil

The rim is flat and has the standard size; common HMDs and smoke boxes sit cleanly on it. Aluminum foil works as well. Because the depot is shallow, moderate heat is enough.

Red clay with milk firing

Cosmo Bowl shapes every DEAD by hand from red clay in Russia. The clay is treated with milk and fired, which densifies the surface. The wall is thick and stores heat well. The models differ in the motif worked into the clay. To seal it on the hookah you need a matching bowl seal.

How to pack the Cosmo Bowl DEAD

  1. Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so the molasses is evenly distributed. Let very wet tobacco drain briefly.
  2. Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the depot and do not press it down. The holes in the floor must stay free.
  3. With an HMD, fill to just below the rim; with aluminum foil, fill a little less so that 2 to 3 mm of air remain to the foil.
  4. Put the HMD on or stretch the foil tight, poke many small holes and re-tighten.
  5. Light up with little charcoal and raise the heat slowly. Add more if needed.

Frequently asked questions

How much tobacco fits in the Cosmo Bowl DEAD?

About 12 to 14 g. The exact amount depends on the cut, the moisture and how loosely you pack.

What is a killer bowl?

That is what the scene calls slim, tall multi-hole bowls with a rather small, shallow depot. They need little tobacco and are designed for dense smoke.

Will my HMD fit on the DEAD?

Yes, the rim is flat and has the standard size. Common HMDs and smoke boxes sit on it, and aluminum foil works as well.

Do the models differ?

Only in the motif. Shape, depot and rim are the same on all DEAD models. Because every bowl is made by hand, each piece looks slightly different.

How do I clean the bowl?

Only once the bowl has cooled down completely do you rinse it with lukewarm water and clear the holes. Hot clay cannot take a cold shock.
