The Mira Rainbow M is a Phunnel bowl made of glazed clay mixture with a shimmering rainbow glaze. It is around 11.5 cm high, 7.5 cm wide on the outside and has a reservoir with a 6.3 cm inner diameter.
Phunnel: one hole in the middle, tobacco in the ring
In the middle of the reservoir sits a raised chimney with a single hole. The tobacco lies in the ring around it. That way the molasses stays in the bowl and does not run into the stem, so the hookah stays cleaner below. It works well with juicy tobacco.
Medium size for the normal session
The M in the name stands for medium size. With a 6.3 cm inner diameter the Rainbow M is a bowl for the usual session, not a large bowl for the whole group.
Built for the HMD
The rim has the standard size, and common HMDs sit on it cleanly. That is the easiest way to regulate the heat. Aluminium foil works too; then you only poke the holes above the tobacco, not above the chimney.
Clay mixture with rainbow glaze
The bowl is made of a heat-resistant clay mixture and is glazed. Depending on the light, the glaze shimmers in rainbow colours, hence the name of the series. The models differ in base colour; shape and reservoir are the same.
How to pack the Rainbow M
- Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so that the molasses is evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the ring around the chimney and do not press it down. The centre hole stays free.
- Fill to just below the rim so that the tobacco at most lightly touches the HMD.
- Place the HMD on, put the charcoals on and let it warm up for a few minutes.
- Regulate the heat via the number and position of the charcoals. If the smoke scratches, take heat away; if it gets thin, carefully add more.

Does my HMD fit the Rainbow M?
Yes, the rim has the standard size. Common HMDs sit on it.
Can I also smoke the bowl with aluminium foil?
Yes. Stretch the foil tight, poke many small holes only above the tobacco and leave 2 to 3 mm of air between tobacco and foil.
Why should the centre hole stay free?
The smoke is drawn down through the hole in the chimney. If tobacco falls in, the draw suffers. So sprinkle the tobacco only into the ring.
Do the models differ?
Only in the base colour of the glaze. Shape, reservoir and rim are the same for all models.
How do I clean the bowl?
Only when the bowl has cooled down completely do you rinse it with lukewarm water. Hot ceramic does not tolerate a cold shock; the glaze can otherwise crack.
