Phunnel stoppers
A phunnel plug closes the hole in the middle of the phunnel while you fill it. You spread the tobacco around it in the bowl and then pull the plug out. Before foil or an HMD goes on, the opening is free again.

Order of packing
Insert the plug into the central opening first. Then fill the bowl and distribute the tobacco without clogging the centre. Pull the plug out before you finish covering the head.
This way no tobacco fibres end up in the airflow while filling. The plug is purely a packing aid: as soon as the head is filled, it comes out.
Fit for the opening
Compare shape and dimensions with your phunnel. The plug should sit firmly while packing and then pull out easily. It is intended for phunnel heads with a central opening; you do not need it for multi-hole heads.
