Tornado multi-hole bowl
The Blaze Tornado is a 5-hole multi-hole head. Its most striking feature is the shallow reservoir with a large surface. You spread the tobacco wide over the whole surface instead of deep into the head.

The Tornado as a multi-hole head with a shallow reservoir
The Tornado is made of stoneware clay and fired at 1200 °C. The reservoir takes 10 to 12 g depending on the tobacco and how you pack. What counts is not only the tobacco itself but how loosely or densely you pack and how cleanly you manage the heat.
Hookain tip: In the Tornado, pack evenly across the surface rather than just in the middle. That makes better use of the shallow reservoir.
What defines the Tornado in everyday use
The stoneware clay is fired much hotter than regular fireclay heads, is very dense and contains little water. This spreads the temperature evenly across the reservoir. Common HMDs sit securely on the head thanks to the roughened edge.
The Tornado at a glance
- Multi-hole design: the air is drawn through five holes in the base straight through the tobacco.
- Shallow reservoir: 10 to 12 g, depending on the tobacco and how you pack.
- Large surface: the tobacco lies wide and flat instead of deep in the head.
- For HMD setups: common HMDs sit securely on the roughened edge.

How to pack the Tornado sensibly
Pack the tobacco loosely and evenly so the holes stay free and the draw stays open.
If you usually smoke phunnels: on a multi-hole head the air is drawn straight through the tobacco. So bring the heat up more gently and only add coals once the head has got going. That gives you a controlled setup instead of a head that runs too hard at the start.
Who the Tornado suits
