The Blyat 5-Hole #666 from Hookain is a stoneware multi-hole bowl made from white and black clay. It holds around 17 g of Virginia tobacco or 21 g of dark leaf. The reservoir is large enough for a longer session.
Five holes in the base
With a multi-hole bowl, the tobacco sits directly above the holes in the base. The smoke is drawn down through the whole reservoir into the smoke column. Unlike the Phunnel, there is no chimney to hold back the molasses. Tobacco that is too wet or packed too firmly can therefore run through the holes. If you pack loosely and let excess molasses drain off beforehand, it stays in the bowl.
Built for aluminium foil
You pack the Blyat 5-Hole #666 the classic way with aluminium foil. Hookain names a chimney attachment as an alternative, which carries excess heat away upwards. With either, it is important that the foil or attachment does not touch the tobacco, otherwise it will burn.
Marbled stoneware from Spain
Every Blyat is handmade in Spain. White and black clay are worked together, which creates the marbling in brown and cream. According to Hookain, the bowl is fired at 1250 °C. Because every piece is made by hand, the grain is different on every bowl.
How to pack the Blyat 5-Hole #666
- Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so the molasses is evenly distributed. Let very wet tobacco drain briefly.
- Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the reservoir and do not press it down, so the holes stay clear.
- Fill to just below the rim so the foil does not touch the tobacco.
- Put the bowl on and take a short pull. If the draw is hard, loosen the tobacco up a little more.
- Stretch aluminium foil tightly over the rim and poke many small holes. Place charcoal at the edge, let it get going for a few minutes and regulate the heat via the number and position of the charcoal.

Frequently asked questions
How much tobacco fits in the Blyat 5-Hole #666?
Around 17 g of Virginia tobacco or 21 g of dark leaf. Exactly how much it ends up being depends on the cut, the moisture and how loosely you pack.
Can I smoke the Blyat 5-Hole #666 with an HMD?
For this bowl, Hookain recommends aluminium foil or a chimney attachment. Hookain does not state an HMD fit for the #666.
Do the Blyat models differ?
Yes. #0, #13, #420 and #666 are separate models with different fill capacities. What they share is the five holes in the base, the marbled stoneware and the handcrafting from Spain.
Why is molasses running into the smoke column?
The tobacco was too wet or packed too firmly. With a multi-hole bowl it sits directly above the holes, so excess molasses finds its way down. Pack more loosely and let wet tobacco drain beforehand.
How do I clean the bowl?
Only once the bowl has cooled down completely do you rinse it out with lukewarm water. Hot ceramic cannot take a cold shock and may otherwise crack.
Why does molasses leak out on the outside?
Stoneware has fine pores. When the bowl gets hot, molasses can soak in and come back out on the outside as it cools. With ceramic this can never be fully prevented. Over time, fine hairline cracks can also appear in the surface because the clay expands when heated.
