Description

The Lit Lip 5 Hole from Hookain is a multi-hole bowl made of stoneware, the classic version of the Lit Lip. It holds around 24 g of Virginia tobacco or 28 g of dark leaf and is therefore suited to longer sessions.

The BBC Matt finish is glazed matt black all over, with only the upper rim showing a fine light edge. You can find the glossy version and more colours under Lit Lip 5 Hole.

Large reservoir with five holes

Five holes sit in the base of the reservoir, and the tobacco lies directly above them. At up to 28 g, the Lit Lip 5 Hole is one of the larger bowls. It suits Virginia tobacco just as well as dark leaf and blends of both.

What is different about a multi-hole bowl

Unlike the Lit Lip Phunnel, there is no chimney to hold the molasses in the reservoir. If the tobacco is too wet or packed too tightly, molasses can run through the holes into the smoke column. With a reservoir of this size, that becomes noticeable more quickly. So you pack loosely, do not overfill and let very wet tobacco drain briefly beforehand.

HMD or aluminium foil

The rim has the standard size, and a common HMD sits cleanly on it. You can also smoke the bowl classically with aluminium foil, in which case you regulate the heat via the position of the charcoal.

Stoneware from Spain, glossy or matt

The Lit Lip 5 Hole is made in Spain from stoneware. It is available in black with a glossy (Shiny) or matt (Matt) surface. A silicone bowl grommet is intended for sealing on the hookah.

How to pack the Lit Lip 5 Hole

  1. Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so that the molasses is evenly distributed. Let very wet tobacco drain briefly.
  2. Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the reservoir and do not press it down. The holes in the base must stay clear.
  3. With an HMD, fill to just below the rim; with aluminium foil, fill a little less so that 2 to 3 mm of air remains below the foil.
  4. Put on the HMD or stretch aluminium foil tight, pierce many small holes and stretch it again.
  5. Place the charcoal on top and let it warm up calmly. The large reservoir takes a little longer to heat through. Add more charcoal during the session.

Frequently asked questions

How much tobacco fits in the Lit Lip 5 Hole?

Around 24 g of Virginia tobacco or 28 g of dark leaf. How much it is exactly depends on the cut, the moisture and how loosely you pack.

What is the difference from the Lit Lip Phunnel?

The Phunnel has a single hole on a raised chimney in the middle. The Lit Lip 5 Hole has five holes in the base, with the tobacco lying directly above them.

Does my HMD fit on the bowl?

Yes, the rim has the standard size. Common HMDs sit on it.

Do Shiny and Matt differ?

Only in the surface. Shape, reservoir and rim are the same.

How do I clean the bowl?

Only once the bowl has cooled down completely do you rinse it out with lukewarm water and clear the holes. Hot ceramic cannot withstand cold shock.

The classic

If you know the litlip as a Phunnel, you know what's coming.
Very good build quality and performance, the tobacco tastes even more intense in the multi-hole Litlip.
