The Werkbund Excalibur foil piercer is made of stainless steel and manufactured in Russia. It is available in the versions Maverick and Sumer. You use it to poke the holes in the foil before the charcoal goes on the bowl.
Piercer for bowls with foil
A piercer gives you control over the hole pattern: you decide how many holes the foil gets and how far apart they are. The Excalibur suits phunnel and multi-hole bowls made of clay or stone. With a phunnel the centre of the foil above the chimney stays unpierced and you only pierce above the tobacco.
Stainless steel from Russia
The Excalibur is made of stainless steel and comes from Russia. Werkbund makes its accessories by hand in the "Werkbund Handcraft Hookah Manufacture". According to the article data, Maverick and Sumer are the same in material, origin and colour (grey, silver).
How to use the piercer
- Put the tobacco loosely into the bowl and do not press it down.
- Pull the foil tight over the rim.
- Poke holes evenly. They should not be too small, otherwise the bowl gets very hot.
- Re-tighten the foil if necessary, place the charcoal and start smoking calmly.
Care
Wipe off tobacco and foil residue after packing the bowl. The stainless steel tip can also be rinsed briefly under water and then dried.
