The Sweet Bowls Ring is a small multi-hole bowl made of dark brown ceramic, handmade in Ukraine. It takes up the classic Turkish shape, has additional grooves inside for the molasses and holds about 15 g of tobacco.
Turkish shape with grooves in the chamber
The Ring combines the classic shape with elements of the Turkish bowl. Typical features are the additional grooves and a recess in the chamber. Part of the molasses collects there instead of running straight through the holes. During the session it bakes on there.
What is different with a multi-hole bowl
There are several holes in the base, with the tobacco lying directly above them. The grooves catch part of the molasses, but the Ring cannot hold it back completely like a phunnel. If the tobacco is too wet or packed too tightly, molasses can run into the stem. So pack the Ring loosely and not too full.
HMD or foil
The rim is flat, so an HMD sits steadily on it. Foil works just as well. With the small chamber, little charcoal is enough, so start carefully and add more if needed.
Handmade in Ukraine
Sweet Bowls is a small manufacturer from Ukraine. Every Ring is shaped by hand from dark clay, and small differences in shape and colour are part of it. A bowl grommet is included.
How to pack the Ring
- Briefly mix the tobacco in the tin so the molasses is evenly distributed. Let very wet tobacco drain briefly.
- Sprinkle the tobacco loosely into the chamber and do not press it down. The holes in the base must stay free; do not block the grooves.
- With an HMD, fill to just below the rim; with foil, a little less, so that 2 to 3 mm of space to the foil remains.
- Put on the HMD or stretch the foil tight, pierce lots of small holes and tighten again.
- Place the coals, heat up for a few minutes and control the heat via the number and position of the coals.

What are the grooves in the chamber for?
They catch part of the molasses that runs out of the tobacco while smoking. After the session, rinse them out too.
Does every bowl look the same?
Not quite. Because every bowl is made by hand, shape and shade vary slightly.
How do I clean the bowl?
Only once the bowl has cooled down completely, rinse it with lukewarm water and clear the holes and grooves. Hot ceramic does not tolerate cold shock.
