The Huka HMD is a heat management device made of aluminium for bowls with the standard HMD size. It replaces aluminium foil: the charcoal lies in the top and gives off its heat to the tobacco from above. The colour is Grey/Silver. The HMD has an outer diameter of 7.4 cm at the bottom, 6.4 cm inside and is 2.7 cm tall.
HMD instead of aluminium foil
With the Huka HMD you do not need to stretch and perforate foil. The charcoal lies in the top and the ash does not fall onto the tobacco. You control the heat via the number and position of the coals.
Aluminium and dimensions
Aluminium conducts heat quickly, so the top heats up fast and also cools down quickly. This is forgiving, but the metal is softer than stainless steel and gets marks more easily. The outer diameter at the bottom is 7.4 cm, the inner diameter 6.4 cm and the height 2.7 cm.
Fit with bowls
The Huka HMD is intended for bowls with the standard HMD size. A standard HMD size does not replace a check of the contact surface. In the selection of bowls for standard HMDs you can orient yourself by this fit class. Compare the inner and outer diameter with the rim of your bowl beforehand.
How to use the Huka HMD
- Pack the tobacco loosely into the bowl until it lightly touches the bottom of the HMD or stays just below it.
- Start with two to two and a half natural charcoals (26 or 27 mm) and let them glow through completely on the charcoal lighter.
- Place the coals in the HMD and put the HMD on the bowl.
- Let it start for three to five minutes before you really draw.
- If it gets too hot, remove or move a coal; if there is too little smoke, add one.
Care
Let the HMD cool down completely before you clean it. Soak it in warm water and use a soft sponge for residues. Never dip it hot into cold water and do not preheat it on the stove.

Läuft ruhig durch
Ich habe mit den Jungs den ganzen Abend kaum an den Kohlen rumgespielt. Abends in der Gartenlaube im Halbdunkel macht er auf dem Kopf richtig was her. Die ganze Session über muss ich kaum eingreifen!

Mit ein wenig Verschieben der Kohlen hat man die Hitze gut im Griff. Preislich eher oben angesiedelt, aber er erfüllt seinen Zweck.

Well crafted
No more constant turning and shifting, I can focus on smoking. You get plenty for the money. Solidly made from aluminium, nothing feels cheap. Not every bowl suits it equally well, worth knowing.
