The INVI Scalar HMD is a sandblasted aluminium heat management device with a removable lid in silver/grey. It measures 7.5 cm in diameter, is around 4.5 cm tall and takes three 26 mm coals at the start. The charcoal sits in the HMD instead of on aluminium foil.
Lid, slots and nubs
You control the heat via the removable lid. Slots built into the wall provide air circulation. Rounded nubs on the underside are meant to let the charcoal burn evenly.
Aluminium: fast and forgiving
Aluminium reacts faster to changes than stainless steel, does not absorb the heat excessively and releases it again more quickly. Mistakes in heat management are therefore easier to correct, which makes the HMD practical for beginners.

How to use the HMD
- Pack the tobacco loosely into the bowl and do not press it down.
- Put the HMD on the bowl; the ring at the bottom keeps it in place.
- Place up to three well-glowing 26 mm coals inside and put on the lid.
- Heat up for a few minutes, then adjust the heat via the lid and the number of coals.
Care and note
Do not preheat the HMD directly on the charcoal burner. Aluminium can melt at extremely high temperatures. Let it cool down completely after the session before you clean it.

How many coals fit inside?

Does the HMD fit my bowl?
The listed compatibility for the HMD is standard. What matters is the rim diameter of your bowl; the ring at the bottom has an inner diameter of approx. 6.8 cm.
May I preheat the HMD on the charcoal burner?
No. Aluminium can melt at very high temperatures, so only place the coals in the HMD.

Trotzt dem Wind
Unser Stammplatz ist im Hof, da geht oft ein Lüftchen. Kein Aschestaub, der beim Pusten auf den Kopf fällt. Im Freien merkt man erst richtig, was er ausmacht!!

Wie erwartet gut
Hab schon zum zweiten Mal bestellt. Das Material, Aluminium, fühlt sich wertig an. Abends im Garten im Halbdunkel macht er auf dem Kopf richtig was her.

Schick verarbeitet, man stellt ihn gern mal ins Regal. Etwas zierlicher dürfte er für mich schon sein. Auf den Bildern wirkte es hochweriger.

Great outdoors
Even when I move the shisha around on the balcony, it stays where it belongs. In windy weather it keeps the coals nicely together.

Coals last longer
Even when the coals have been on a while, the taste remains crisp. Even on long evenings with colleagues I top up far less often than I used to. My flatmate figured out how it works after one evening. It has a tiny bit of play on my phunnel.

Less faffing
When I smoke with my wife, nobody has to keep fiddling with the embers. There’s enough to grip when lifting it off, it feels secure. Tap out the ash, quick wipe, done.

Gut regelbar!
Ich bin eher der Gelegenhietsraucher. Gerade Aluminium gefällt mir an einem Kaminaufsatz richtig gut. Ich kann die Hitze Schritt für Schritt hochfahren, ohne dass der Geschmack kippt.
