Design & stem
The Captain works with a click system. You put the stem and glass base together without screws, so setting up and taking apart are quick. The base contains a Closed Chamber System. When the smoke in the glass base has gone stale, you blow it out through the hose with a short blow back. The downstem has a diffuser.
18/8 ground joint and hose ports
The hose adapter sits on an 18/8 ground joint and needs no additional seals. The Captain has one hose port for the included hose set.
Chimney bowl set with clay bowl
The set includes a chimney bowl set consisting of a clay bowl and a Mockingbird attachment. The attachment distributes the heat of the coal more evenly over the tobacco, so the coal burns down more slowly. With the included coal tongs you place the coal and push it along during the session.
Material & workmanship
Aluminium keeps the weight low. The glass of the base is transparent, so you can see the water level. The silicone hose is antistatic and has anti-kink protection; the mouthpiece is made of aluminium.
How to set up the Captain
- Fill the base with water until the downstem sits about 2 cm in the water.
- Put the stem on the glass base and click it into place.
- Push the hose adapter onto the 18/8 ground joint and connect the hose.
- Put tobacco into the clay bowl, place the Mockingbird attachment on top and position the coal.
- Take your time starting the session and control the heat via the coal.
Care and cleaning
Rinse the stem and glass base with warm water after the session and brush through the stem if needed. Let the clay bowl cool down completely before cleaning. A cold shock on hot clay can cause cracks.
