Red, orange and brown run into one another on the Petit Popo Zauron. The Phunnel bowl is made of stoneware, handmade in Spain and built for use with an HMD.
What makes a Phunnel
A Phunnel has no holes in the base. The smoke travels through a chimney in the middle of the bowl, whose opening sits above the tobacco. This way molasses cannot run into the smoke column.
Amount of tobacco and heat
Guideline: about 13 g of Virginia, about 16 g for dark leaf. Lay the tobacco in a ring around the chimney and keep it loose. The heat comes from the HMD on top. Start with a few pieces of charcoal, check the smoke after getting it going and only then add more. You can find the same Phunnel construction with a larger reservoir in the Popo Phunnel, more colours under Petit Popo.
A one-of-a-kind piece of ceramic
The colour gradients arise during handcrafting and are different on every bowl. Over time molasses can soak into the ceramic, and heat creates fine stress lines. Both are simply part of ceramic bowls.
Frequently asked questions about the Petit Popo Zauron
Is every Zauron coloured the same?
No. Every bowl is made by hand, so the gradient and the share of red, orange and brown turn out different on every piece.
What do I do after the session?
Let the bowl cool down completely, remove tobacco residue and then rinse it out with water.
How much dark leaf fits in?
About 16 g. Exactly how much it turns out to be for you depends on cut, moisture and packing style.
