The Werkbund Foil Piercer Gestalt Octo is a stainless steel foil piercer made in Russia. You use it to poke holes in the aluminium foil before the coals go on the bowl. It is available in gold and grey.
Foil piercer for bowls with aluminium foil
A foil piercer gives you control over the hole pattern: you decide how many holes the foil gets and how far apart they are. The Gestalt Octo suits phunnel and multi-hole bowls made of clay or stone. With a phunnel, the centre of the foil above the chimney stays unpierced and you only pierce above the tobacco.
Stainless steel from Russia
The Gestalt Octo is made of stainless steel and comes from Russia. Werkbund makes its accessories by hand in the "Werkbund Handcraft Hookah Manufacture".
How to use the foil piercer
- Pack the tobacco loosely into the bowl and do not press it down.
- Pull the aluminium foil tight over the rim.
- Poke holes evenly. They should not be too small, otherwise the bowl gets very hot.
- Re-tighten the foil if needed, place the coals and start smoking at your own pace.
Care
Wipe off tobacco and foil residue after building the bowl. The stainless steel tip can also be rinsed briefly under water, then dried.
