Bowl packing forks
With a head-packing fork you portion tobacco and spread it in the bowl without sticky fingers. Fork-and-poker tools combine this job with a poker. The shape of the handle and the prongs determines how you work with the tool.

Fork or combo?
A single fork is enough for filling and loosening. With a fork-and-poker combo, you can then use the same hand to perforate foil or redistribute the tobacco. You can tell which tip a model has from the product image.
Spreading instead of pressing down
The fork helps you place small portions evenly in the head. It does not replace checking the fill height. On the phunnel the middle opening stays free; on the multi-hole head the holes in the bottom must not be pressed shut.
Remove tobacco residue from the tool after packing. Coatings and handle material dictate how you clean it.
