Watch each raised spot beneath the cover and distribute evenly across the floor openings. The actual interior, rather than the overall height, sets the useful portion.

With the shallow DEAD chamber, inspect each raised fibre before the cover goes on. Flatten isolated peaks lightly; keep the portion underneath loose. Weight gives an indication, but the visible height and contact with your chosen cover are the useful checks. Keep note of a level arrangement so you can reproduce it next time.
